Library of Celsus in Ephesus Turkey

Frozen Memories

My heart almost stopped when I turned a corner and saw this ruined facade of the Library of Celsus in Ephesus. It was by far my favorite site in what was a spectacular city. I could have sat for hours staring at this structure from afar before moving close to study the intricacies of the stone, run my hands over the finely carved statues, press my fingers into the ancient words carved into rock by long forgotten artisans. I closed my eyes and imagined Paul, one of my hero’s, passionately preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ with me as one of the crowd listening with rapt attention. I would have loved to see this building in it’s heyday. I would have loved to have been able to take pictures of this facade without all the people milling about.
