Secret Cave Church

Frozen Memories

Cave Carvings Cave Carvings

Exploring the caves of Cappadocia was a treat because you never knew what you would find inside. Sometimes it was just a cave, other times, a former dwelling, or, in this case, a former church. There were many of these cave churches throughout the Cappadocia area. The Christians made them while in hiding from those with an anti-Christian bias. I love how they carved these pillars, arches, and dome out of the rock. They were decorative rather than functional.
