Meenakshi Temple Closing Ceremony

Frozen Memories

Meenakshi Temple Closing Ceremonies Meenakshi Temple Closing Ceremonies

The Meenakshi Temple City was closed late in the evening by the temple priests (the shirtless men) in a centuries old ceremony. We were able to attend the procession and capture as many images as our hearts desired with our phone based cameras. We were not allowed to visit the starting and ending points because those were Hindu only areas. Try as I might, I simply can’t pass for a Hindu. The smoke in the picture is from a large quantity of burning incense being continually fanned by a priest.
