I have a difficult time sleeping when on a vacation when I know a sunset is coming. On this very chilly morning I dragged Irene out of bed well before sunrise, picked her up a coffee at the just opening McDonalds in Pigeon Forge then drove up into the Smoky Mountain National Park in an eerie darkness. We reached the parking area at the Appalachian Trail just in time to see the morning break over the clouds.
