Court of the Concubines and the Sultan’s Consorts

Frozen Memories

Court of the Concubines and the Sultan’s Consorts Court of the Concubines and the Sultan’s Consorts

This is the courtyard for the harem, an open area where the concubines could watch the Sultan as he strode by on his personal walkway. I can’t help but wonder at the amount of tension between the women as each vied for the Sultan’s attention.
