Chokali The Expressive

Frozen Memories

Chokali Chokali The Expressive

They call her Chokali but I’m not sure I heard the name correctly. I am told there is a term in Marathi, the local language, that sounds similar but means little girl. So, maybe I am calling her by her name or maybe I am calling her little girl. Either way, she responds so communication occurs which is the fundamental use of language.

She prefers to make funny faces for my camera over a smile. Her next preferred look is of the forlorn which she also uses when seeking money from others. I have seen her smile frequently when playing with her friends but the times I have caught her smiling for the camera are few and far between. She is the primary companion of Pravina.
