The Nepalese are known for their Sherpas without whom none of the Westerners that conquered the great peaks of the Himalayas would have successfully completed their quests. It’s the Sherpas that transport the heavy loads allowing the climbers to conserve energy for the final push to the summit. One way they carry the goods, is through the mechanism in this picture. A basket held against the back by a rope would around the forehead. These must be extremely strong people. I saw a woman with one of these setups throwing bricks over her head into the basket which she would then transport to their destination.
