Brown Eyed Monkey Brown Eyes Raised to Heaven

Once the rain abated, a troop of monkeys made a showing much to my delight and the joy of the other visitors. They tended to be comfortable around humans but still showed signs of skittishness as is the nature of wild animals. This one appeared to be mesmerized by the massive stupa. Or, perhaps, it was seeking an exit path if I moved inside it’s comfort zone.

I wish I could get inside of their head, Doctor Dolittle style, and understand monkey thoughts. I imagine they could teach me the ancient secrets handed down from generation to generation of monkey. Was this an ancestor from the original days of the temple with ancient stories or someone new to this serene place?

What do you seek monkey? Are you watching the skies for rain? Admiring the stupa? Or are you in a meditative state trying to get inside…
