Temple Guardians

Frozen Memories

Temple Guardians Temple Guardians

These amazing statues were duplicated on both sides of the 33 steps leading up to the temple for a total of 5 stationary beings flanked by 5 identical stationary beings guarding the god in the temple. This leads one to ask, does a god really need guarding?

Perhaps they weren’t guards. Perhaps they were living beings turned to stone because the god loved them so and wanted them to remain unchanged for antiquity. Who really knows the thoughts at play in the mind of the immortals? Not I. I am happy being a mortal, happy having a limited understanding of the eternal for I am not sure I could carry the weight of mankind on my shoulders.
