Going to Sri Lanka, I expected to have an encounter with the Buddha. In fact, the main reason I went to Sri Lanka was to continue on my tour of famous Buddhist sites. In Sri Lanka, I headed for an area known as the cultural triangle, a place the ancients left their indelible mark, near the center of the island.

What I didn’t expect is to encounter more monkeys in two days than in the previous 53 years of my life. The first 51 don’t really count because I lived most of my life in the midwest USA where monkeys exist solely in zoos.
