At the top of Lion’s Rock in Sigiriya sit the remains of an extensive, ancient palace. Within the palace there is the what is purported to be an ancient pool. With the heat and humidity in this climate, a pool would be a lovely place to cool off….just not this day is it was green with algae.

The caretaker, a man that had just fished some debris from the pool, told me the flat area just up and to left of the pool (outside the picture range) was an ancient discotheque. He told me this with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
