Awkward First Kiss

It was an awkward first kiss
Thrust onto you from passion
Growing steadily over five never ending days
Since I first saw your lithe figure
Silhouetted in a bright afternoon light
An Angels radiance
Filtering through a dusty window
With half open drapes
My heart smile stretched to my ears
The beating in my chest a song of longing
As the fish out of water sings for the salty waters
Five days wrapped me in an eternity of longing
I drowned repeatedly, continually in desire
Daily whispers between our souls
Fanned flames of colorful intensity
A roaring fire consuming me

The silver screen in my head descends
Audience of one sits rapt
Moth drawn to flame
Lights dim
Vision softens
Desire splashes future images on the storyboard
Siren enters stage left
A hypnotic fairy
I pull her close to me
Superman holding Lois
Tarzan saving Jane
David winning Bathsheba’s heart
Lips touch
Energy released, shared
In the dream, Knees buckle
In the fantasy, She Swoons

On the sixth evening
You walked toward me
The angel of my desire
I threw my arms around you
Drew you close to my soul
Planted the long dreamed of kiss
My lips met yours askew
I flushed pink
Felt emotion torment my spirit
You smiled
Time ceased
It was an awkward first kiss
Yet it set a foundation for a lifetime together
