Inspired by Lyrics #3 (Where’s The Compassion?)

You and I – we may look the same
But we are very far apart
There’s bullet-holes where my compassion used to be
And there is violence in my heart.
~Nine Inch Nails, My Violent Heart

Lyrics for our current political climate which feeds us heart strangling fear instead of intellect freeing facts? The anthem of a generation bent on destroying caricaturized enemies instead of seeking understanding with actual breathing humans?

How can one claim allegiance with Christ when harboring hate in their heart? How do you call yourself human when you consider the death of 1000 innocents an acceptable trade off to punish an enemy or two? Would the equation be the same if the innocent were your child, your sibling, your parent?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, Jesus said knowing none of us are innocent.

Jesus said, “Anyone who is angry with his brother or sister is subject to judgment” and He said, “All men are our brothers.” To be angry at our enemy is to be angry at a brother is to risk judgment in the fire of hell. Is hatred worth eternal damnation?

Jesus said a lustful look at a woman means as man has committed adultery in the heart, is it not committing murder in the heart when we wish the death of anyone, even an enemy? How does one recover one’s soul when the soul is steeped in the blood of a brother?

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind said the venerable Indian sage during a time his nation was immersed in political oppression, political violence, human death. I fear humanities metaphorical eyes are mostly blind.

Love is ever-present within our own Being but we might not feel it until we live in the Now. "Love it Now" was created to share ideas about loving and being present in the here and now. Enjoy!
