Once a year go someplace you’ve never been before. ~Dalai Lama
Once a year is not enough to visit a place for the first time. Assuming two weeks vacation for the unique trip, there remain fifty weeks mired in daily, weekly, monthly rituals. It need not be. For the cost of a library card, it is possible to visit a new world, book by book, weekly, forever. Still not enough travel for me.
There is a world available to be explored every day, a planet with hidden canyons, trap doors opening to universes unseen, labyrinths open for the briefest moments until they reconfigure and slam shut never to exist again.
I visit this world hidden in my mind daily, ritualistically, recording what surfaces in a little notebook with blank pages and rotating ink colors. Today, my mind bled blue. Other days I vomit pink. Every day a new adventure and a changed life.
