Struggle is a never ending process. Freedom is never really won, you earn it and win it in every generation. ~Coretta Scott King
The greatest threat to freedom in American is not undocumented immigrants, our unhealthy dependence on fossil fuels, the desert nomads ready to sacrifice for the mythical 72 virgins, or nuclear armageddon at the hands of Trump’s Russian boy toy or his squat North Korean friend with the bad haircut. It is not Communism knocking at our door nor melting polar ice caps raising oceans to obscure those doors.
The greatest threat to American freedom is “We the People” seeing division where we should embrace unity, allowing the powerful to divide us into black/white, rich/poor, urban/rural, and, most heinous, Repricklicans and Dickocrats assaulting us with pettifog solely to distract us while they pass laws to gild their silk undershorts with wealth siphoned from the shallow pockets of the people.
Our forbearers struggled to be free of tyranny. We believed the hard won freedom irrevocable. Our complacency allowed evil to tarnish the fantastical American dream. Evil infiltrates in the form of unbridled government absolutism where wealthy politicians manipulate laws from inside borders we naively imagine protect us.
The real threat to our freedom is the enemy born within our borders we, out of fear, elect to the highest offices. Until we find the courage or our forefathers and oust the entirety of the corrupt politicians, our souls will never truly be free.
