Betraying The Christ

The war his country asked
of him convinced him war
has no heroes. Only the dead.
The cost of violence
is always more violence.

~Glen Sorestad

I am sick to death of the older generation the vast majority that never set foot in the military calling for war. It’s an easy call, a hypocritical call now that they are safe from conscription, thousands of miles distant from flying metal teeth devouring souls, fawning over military actions to defend the honor of a country without honor. It is hypocrisy of the highest order on par with the Christians torturing aboriginals their own Judas gold.

Who did they betray? None other than the Christ himself and the revolutionary teachings making love the benchmark for his followers. In none of Jesus teachings is there an exception to hate, wiggle room to squeeze in war of any sort. The very concept of a ‘Christian War’ is an oxymoron in the glaring light of Jesus teachings.

I can no longer call my self Christian because adhering to Christ’s teachings is beyond my ability. I can admire the god-man, do seek to emulate his example but know I am too weak to toe the line of his convicting words. I don’t give a person the shirt off my back unless the shirt is no longer wanted, a sacrifice I rarely kneel to. I can only turn the other cheek in the easy situation not when my physical or emotional well being is at risk.

Any real devotee of Jesus would never fan the flames of any war. This is the evidence convicting my nation exposing to the world we are blasphemers only pretending to be Christ’s Christians.
