The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion. ~Thomas Paine
My belief that we are to exist as citizens of the world is mirrored in founding father Thomas Paine and his belief in transnational human rights undergirding his quote. Viewing myself as a citizen of the world being more important than a citizen of the US is a view I came to of my own accord. It is the logical extension of all parts summing to the whole that none is more important than the other.
The brain, heart, and the asshole each serve a critical function in keeping the human organism healthy. If any are damaged or missing, the organism suffers and dies. Therefore, “Shithole countries” are as vital to the health of society as are any other. Humanity is blood cells coursing through the societal body. It is detrimental to require those in the foot to stay in the foot, for those in the brain to isolate themselves to the brain. Sickness and death will inevitably follow. All have equal time in the lungs to expel CO2 poison and rejuvenate with rich O2 which is then shared unreservedly throughout the organism.
For a healthy world, the free flow of humans and their ideas is vital if the body is to thrive and not merely survive. In this respect, I view not only Thomas Paine as my brother but every person who has walked, will walk on this 3rd rock from the sun a sibling and fully advocate doing good by eliminating all barriers to human travel across the arbitrary lines labeled country borders.
